YHA of India is organising National Himalayan Trekking Expedition on two trails in the enchanting land of Himachal Pradesh.
1. Babeli - Malana - Chanderkhani pass (from 5th May to 4th June, 1999)
2. Kasol - Sar pass - Manikaran (from 15th May to 14th June, 1999)

You can join any one of the above two trails on any day during the scheduled period as mentioned above.

Age
The minimum age for joining the expeditions is 15 years.

Fees
1. Babeli - Malana - Chanderkhani pass route : Rs.1,325
2. Kasol - Sar pass - Manikaran route : Rs. 1,200

This fee will cover stay during the programme, simple vegetarian meals, expert guidance, insurance and equipment charges. You will have to bear the travel expenses to the Base camp.

1. Chanderkhani pass
Chanderkhani trail passes through panoramic green pastures, fields of butter cup, Daises, Lillies and Rhododendrons. The trail crosses three high passes - Bringta top (10,032 ft), Rashol jot (10,652 ft) and Chanderkhani pass. Also there will be grand view of snow capped mountains like Deo Tibba, Indrasan, Makerbeh, Girva Kothi and Hanuman Tibba.

How to reach the Babeli Youth Hostel base camp
Babeli Base camp youth hostel is 8 kms from Kullu enroute Manali for Chanderkhani pass. It is directly linked with Delhi (520 Kms), Chandigarh (280 Kms) and Shimla (242 Kms) by road.

Schedule
Day 1: Report at Base camp Babeli (4,000 ft)
Day 2 & 3: Acclimatisation and orientation
Day 4: Trek to Larikot Youth Hostel (7,500 ft) (12 Kms)
Day 5: Trek to Pinni Youth Hostel (8,000 ft) via Bangla top (10,032 ft) (12 Kms)
Day 6: Trek to Chhalal Youth Hostel (5,200 ft) (16 Kms)
Day 7: Rest at Chhalal
Day 8: Trek to Rashol Youth Hostel (8,700 ft) (9 Kms)
Day 9: Trek to Malana Youth Hostel (8,700 ft) via Rashol Jot (10,962 ft) (16 Kms)
Day 10: Trek to Nagruni Youth Hostel (10,000 ft)
Day 11: Trek to Rumsu Youth Hostel (7,800 ft) via Chanderkhani pass (12,000 ft) (14 Kms)
Day 12: Trek to Naggar, take a bus to Babeli base camp
Day 13: Group breaks after breakfast

2. Sar Pass
Kasol is in the enchanting Parvati valley. The Sar Pass trail crosses over two high altitude passes Beskari (13,200 ft) and Sar (13,800 ft). The Sar Pass trail is as adventurous as that of Chanderkhani pass.

How to reach the Kasol Youth Hostel Base Camp
The base camp for Sar Pass trail at youth hostel Kasol is 45 Kms from Kullu and 4 Kms short of Manikaran. Manikaran is directly linked by buses with Kullu, Chandigarh, Bhuntar and Manali via Kasol.

Day 2&3: Acclimatisation and orientation
Day 4: Trek to Grahan youth hostel (7,500 ft) (9 Kms)
Day 5: Trek to Bara Thach youth hostel (9,000 ft) (7 Kms)
Day 6: Trek to Ming Thach youth hostel (9,000 ft) (7 Kms)
Day 7: Trek to Nagaru youth hostel (11,000 ft) (9 Kms)
Day 8: Trek to Beskari youth hostel (9,000 ft) via Beskari pass and Sar pass (13,800 ft) (16 Kms)
Day 9: Trek to Pulga youth hostel (7,000 ft) (12 Kms)
Day 10: Trek to Kasol youth hostel base camp (18 Kms)
Day 11: Group breaks after breakfast

Things to bring alongwith you for the trek
Ruck sack (if you have one), cotton shirts, cotton pants, woollen jerseys or thick jackets, woollen muffler, light raincoat, DMS / Hunter shoes, torch with batteries, water bottle, lunch box, plate, spoon, mug, water purifying tablets, pen knife, nail cutter, Sun glasses, needle & thread, spare buttons, cold cream, soap, towel, toilet paper, adhesive plaster and first aid kit with medicines that you normally use at home.

Cancellations
In case you are unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, you will get a 50% refind of participation fee provided your request is received directly in the national office at least 7 days in advance from the date of reporting. No refund will, however be admissable if such notice is short of 7 days.

Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrappers or spoil the trail in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or any thing left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you for deposit at the base camp. Import of any bio-non degradable material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.
